Practicing for Quiz or Test to Complete at Home It is important that you practice grammar skills that you are struggling with in class and at home in order to show mastery and be successful.
Accelerated Reader The following are the point goals for reading during 1st quarter: 29 (unless you have an intensive reading class) Log-in to Accelerated Reader to view progress and identify ZPD reading range. Also, you can find book suggestions there with pictures. Go to the media center or your public library near your home and check out the books in your range if possible. Get assistance from a media specialist if you are not sure about a particular book! Books may also be checked out from my classroom library, but choices are limited! Collections Online Textbook The textbook can be accessed at my.hrw.com. The username is facademy4and the password is sunrise. Click on the drop-down menu at the top right to open the Grade 8 book. Click on the ebook icon. Then click on the book icon in the top center of the page and type the appropriate page. Finally click enter.
Accelerated Reader Read several books per quarter within your individual reading level to reach your goal. You should try to read for at least 30 minutes daily. Your range, percentage of questions correct, and goal completion can be found under Progress when you sign into Accelerated Reader. Please click on the hyperlink to be directed to the website. The username is first initial and first four letters of last name in all CAPS. The password is abc. AR quizzes can only be completed in class before, during (if time permits), or immediately after school. The higher the level of your books, the more points you will be awarded toward your goal, so try to read those books! To find out if your book qualifies as an AR book, visit www.arbookfinder.com. Your two AR grades are based on your quiz average and completing your point goal for each quarter. You have up until the last week of the quarter to meet your goal.
The i-Ready diagnostic test is being given in order for students to be aware of their reading and math level placement. Once the test has been given, please visit www.i-ready.com and complete the lessons in reading and math for at least 45 minutes per subject per week.
